Studio shoots are held in client’s choice of Milan Italy, Como Italy, or Austin TX USA (limited availability). Kara Marie uses beautiful private host studios in all three destinations to allow flexibility for clients located around the world. If you are interested in booking a studio collection elsewhere in the world, please inquire as travel opportunities are accepted multiple times per year.

To reserve a studio collection shoot and secure your date, a 50% non-refundable retainer fee is required. Payments are accepted via Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Discover, and PayPal. The remaining 50% balance will be due at the time of your photo session.

The waitlist of the past (from 2012 to current) will still be utilized to announce of time slots available, however photo shoot bookings will now be considered on a case by case basis without the requirement of first being on the waitlist.

Each studio collection client will receive a detailed client prep guide to help get in the right headspace for your session. There’s very little tangible preparation required beyond getting a good night’s sleep and having some quiet time before your session. You are a masterpiece as you are.

If you will be wearing wardrobe for your shoot, you’ll want to bring that. Think simply. No need for glamorous wardrobe or buying anything new. The studio will provide draping fabrics and sheer fabrics to stylize nude sets, as well as a robe for in-between sets.

It is encouraged to arrive to your session as your most familiar self, having your skin, hair, body hair, and makeup the way you prefer to be photographed. In efforts to ensure that our clients feel most like themselves and to support the message of not needing a makeover transformation in order to be photo worthy, we do not provide hair and makeup services.

You can expect to be at the studio for between 3-4 hours. Shoots are slow-paced and comfortable, allowing plenty of time for get-to-know-you conversation, set changes, and snack breaks as needed. We recommend clients block out the day for this experience to not feel rushed or anxious.

The average turnaround time is approximately 3 weeks to process + curate the final images for your viewing. Depending on your location, photo reveal appointments can take place in person at the studio, or remotely via video conference.

Photo reveal appointments typically take roughly 1 hour. Kara Marie will present you with a theatrical slideshow of your best images, then will guide you through each image in your collection, assist you with selecting your favorites for your fine art album and your wall art, and assist in any other orders you may wish to place.

At the end of your photo reveal appointment, you will be given your full collection of web resolution images for personal use and frequent viewing, and Kara Marie will begin the work to design your printed products.

Based on ethical and artistic preferences, Kara Marie’s standard natural retouching process, only temporary blemishes such as acne, scrapes, and bruises will be removed. The image enhancement process involves contrast, exposure, cropping and background clean-up, as well as expert black and white conversions. Should you have any specific requests or questions, these conversations are always welcomed and encouraged.

Only the finest craftsmanship will do. Kara Marie partners with a fine art lab in Dolomites of Italy, using the best photographic papers, woods, and Italian leather. Albums and wall art typically have a 3-4 week turnraround time and will ship from Italy with express 72 hour shipping.

Yes, you can absolutely bring 1 friend along with you to your photo shoot experience. We will ask that friends not interfere with the shoot process , but are always welcome to be encouraging from the sidelines and be a good support in celebrating you.

We do ask that romantic partners not be present for studio shoots, as clients can subconsciously altar their expressions/body language/personalities according to what pleases their partner rather than themselves.
